Rachel Ainley Textiles
Since she can remember Rachel has collected fabric and haberdashery and is fascinated by textiles from different eras and generations that contain past histories and memories. From her home studio she enjoys the process of creating a range of contemporary textile products that draw in these past histories and memories. She uses souvenir items such as linen tea towels, pinnies, napkins, handkerchiefs, curtains and old pieces of hand embroidery, lace and haberdashery.
Rachel’s work is always lively and bold and shows off her passion for colour and pattern. It is individually designed and hand crafted and has a particular attention to detail, often incorporating traditional sewing techniques including hand stitching, embroidery, appliqué and quilting.
Much of her work is unique but whilst pieces are often replicated no two pieces are quite the same making her work individual.
Rachel has a degree in Theatre Design has worked as a set designer and scene painting for many years working in different theatres around the country. She lives in Nottingham with her husband, Paul and her 2 boys Alex and Frank.
